LELA ROSE
Evoking a rich Eastern ethos, Lela Rose opened with a terrific group of looks in rich colors, textures and prints. A dotted wool jacket in a ginger tone, for instance, was worn with a skirt crocheted in an ethnic pattern. Rose was playing on “a Brothers Grimm fairy-tale inspiration” but there wasn’t a Rapunzel in sight. Some dresses, like the swirling organza one in fuchsia-and-white ombré, read more Stevie Nicks. Of course, Rose’s requisite slender cocktail dresses and gowns were all there, but it was the exotica looks that were the freshest, indicating that the designer might be on a new path.

TRACY REESE
Designer Tracy Reese’s autumn-winter show had a guest model, of the feline variety. The cat was supposed to be walked on a leash, but was a bit frightened, the designer explained backstage, and had to be cradled in the model’s arms for its one trip down the catwalk. Er, runway. The cat may have been timid, but Reese’s designs were the opposite – full of mixed prints and bold colours, like the floral-printed neoprene frock in pink, orange and black that accompanied the cat-bearing model.

CUSTO BARCELONA
Furs and sequins and minis and textures and layers plus a ‘beauty meets beast’ aesthetic was to die for.

DIANE VON FURSTENBERG
She showed small clutches, roomy tote bags and printed totes which matched her apparel collection. Many of Diane Von Furstenberg’s handbags featured her signature prints and were made to match the apparel collection either through color blocking or by use of prints.

JOANNA MASTROIANNI
Hab lots of leather organza and black metal chains.
