178. The Power of Colour In Your Brand Story

1

storyfountain

Ever wondered if there is  a colour associated with success in business?

Could use of colour really influence the fortunes of companies, and might it be true that companies of similar size, industry sector or even geography tend to use the same colours in their corporate identity and branding? The answer is yes, yes, and yes.

The evidence comes in a beautiful and elegant piece of graphic design work I stumbled across at the degree show of students from the Central St Martins School of Art in London.  I was blown away by a beatifully-produced display from  Kwang-Hyun (Sean) Ahn from Korea.  The work of his   one-man band called Akha is visible  on http:cargocollective.com/ahka1203.

This work builds on some  old ideas. The artist Wassily Kandinsky, during his time as a teacher at the Bauhaus art school, experimented with  associations between pure colours and shapes back in the late…

177. Modular Tile Design

Modular pattern design seems so simple that many people don’t even consider. Yet its one of the best way of expressing your style. Designing patterns are always endless each can give dramatically a different look and feel.
Till I started doing this modular design project, I was in same perception that it is simple. It is not simple as it looks. Coming up with new and unique design which competes and beats the regular design is challenging. It took almost 8 hours to come up with my final design. Another big challenging part comes in choosing the colors which goes best with each design element of the tile in the same time enhancing each tile. Once after the colors finalised, its really a big task filling the colors with equal and even spread. I used scotch drafting tape to avoid patchy fill. Finally it took 16 hours with breaks to complete the filling part. This is a huge tough project which looks easy and simple.

174. Cinco De Mayo

Had a lovely time in cinco de mayo celebrations @ Anaheim last weekend.

“CINCO DE MAYO” mean May 5 in Spanish, is the Anniversary day of the Battle of Puebla,  national holiday in Mexico in honor of a military victory in 1862 over the French forces of Napoleon III. The day is celebrated in Mexico as celebrations of their victory.

Cinco de Mayo has also become a festive holiday in parts of the United States with large Mexican American populations. Celebrations in the United States often extend beyond the actual day to encompass an entire week, with parades and festivals that include music, dancing, and food.

It was a great exposure to learn about Mexican festive celebrations and their culture. The event reminded me of small fairs held in Indian towns for Ganesh Chaturthi and Desara festival.

173. Punk Rush @ Met Gala 2013

Punk is one such shock trends that marry lifestyle together with quality craftsmanship, which emerged in 2010. It is mostly like one’s dressing with their attitude towards life fused with their sense of fashion taste.

Now the Punk is rushing back to influence the fashion conscious of 2013. To celebrate the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute 2013 exhibit, with the theme “Punk: Chaos to Couture,” Hollywood celebrities and designers picked out their skittish trend setting looks.

Celebrities endeavored to rival the theme. And in the same time some were just with the hottest designs irrelevant to the theme.

Magnificent looks of the night include Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Jessica Parker, Nicole Richie, Beyonce Knowles-Carter, and Rooney Mara.

Few of my favorite looks goes here……..

The Dynamic Walk is an excellent model which changes its shape as you walk on the bridge. Brilliant idea and implementation.

“Divine Devotion” Acrylic paint on Canvas – Winner for “Least Afraid of Colors” award.

Biomorphic Spoons using cherry wood is just wonderful.

Most of all graphite works were amazing.
