207. Antiquity behind Beauty Spot

Always wonder why mom used to keep a spot with black kohl, on my cheek or towards left of left eye. She always said its a beauty spot which makes you look more beautiful and keeps you away from evil eyes. I had this spot throughout childhood in my make up. And gradually stopped keeping it myself.

Surprisingly I never thought of it until few days back when I heard about Roman’s were using patches. History says the beauty patches are ancient. They are used from Egyptian times, initially its used to hide the scars and patches on their faces. As time passed, (considered from 18th century) the functional purpose of patches turned into fashion.

Initially  taffeta was used to make little plasters and was cut into different shapes.  Shapes were the crescent moon, the star, different flowers, and even animals or people.  The face looked like a shadow-play performance.

Their positions on the face varied.  There were, however, some favourite places.  The seven principal ones were:  at the corner of the eye, la passionnee;  la galante, in the middle of the cheek;  la baiseuse, at the corner of the mouth;  on a pimple, la receleuse;  on the nose, l’effrontee;  la coquette, on the lips.  A round patch was called l’assassine.  At one time, women wore patches circled with diamonds on their right temple.

173. Punk Rush @ Met Gala 2013

Punk is one such shock trends that marry lifestyle together with quality craftsmanship, which emerged in 2010. It is mostly like one’s dressing with their attitude towards life fused with their sense of fashion taste.

Now the Punk is rushing back to influence the fashion conscious of 2013. To celebrate the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute 2013 exhibit, with the theme “Punk: Chaos to Couture,” Hollywood celebrities and designers picked out their skittish trend setting looks.

Celebrities endeavored to rival the theme. And in the same time some were just with the hottest designs irrelevant to the theme.

Magnificent looks of the night include Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Jessica Parker, Nicole Richie, Beyonce Knowles-Carter, and Rooney Mara.

Few of my favorite looks goes here……..

167. Sunset vs Moonbeams

Choosing between precious gold and silver jewelry, the myth is to stick with their skin tone. People with dark skin were to choose gold, while cooler complexions had to settle on silver. This whole thing sounds too limiting and really silly. The thing is not to overrun one’s look with too much of a good thing.

No matter what is one’s complexion Gold know to tap its powers. Important thing is the color and style of the outfit. Many vintage, bohemian, nautical fashions can benefit from glimpses of gold. Gold works very well with dainty fragile retro looks.

Silver has been a best pal evening wear for ages. Silver makes diamonds and crystals glimmer like no other metal can. It has the best ability of  playing with natural light. Gold looks great against warm colors while silver picks up the cool colors.

In the same time mix and matching silver with gold or gold with silver can employ determined look of style. Just make sure to know how to play.

15. Cord Neck Laces

These are the simple cord necklaces. Each cord is hung by a beautiful stone pendants.

As you see in the pictures, I used 3 different colored cords for each necklace like Black, Brown, Beige. Out of all only 2 necklaces are multi corded and rest all of them are single corded. I have not used any  braiding techniques to finish the necklace, infact I just knotted the cords to place the pendants in place.
The stone collections are from India. It took so long to give them proper shape and usage.
Skull shaped stone, beautiful fish shaped stone and a stone painted with gold and green color are ceramic stones. The other is irregularly shaped silver coated stone. One more is circular black stone surrounded by silver carvings.
Among all of them, carved elephant which is in milk white is my favourite. This particular one is the collection from mysore. The shape of elephant is carved from marble stone.

These cords look very well with simple casual wear(both Indian and Western) and also be prefered to wear on formals too.
